The Organist Encores has a large archive of over 550 broadcast made between 1935 and 1980, all of which have come from various collections and kind donors over the years. The major companies who broadcast this seemed fit not to keep any copies, and it’s only down to people with off air recording equipment that any of this stuff exists. We want this site to be the repository for (mostly) solo theatre organ broadcast – whole or in part, whatever the quality, to be used for research and personal (i.e non commercial) use.

The best has been done to improve the quality of these recordings, however, in most cases they are 2nd or 3rd generation copies, usually from reel to reel or acetate disc to cassette tape. In some cases, the quality will be poor and I have tried to retain the music rather than over-process them.

Every effort has been taken to add information such as dates & song titles, however in some cases it’s not been possible to identify these, if you are able to help, please contact us and quote the broadcast ID number.

The audio has been compressed for web-hosting – if you have a use for a higer quality copy, please contact us and quote the broadcast ID number.
